Oxygen with Love – because you are our family.
Alpha has always been in the forefront whenever humanity confronted a crisis in Kerala. Cyclone Okhi, Flood 2018 and Flood 2019 are some of the recent experiences.
When it comes to Covid 19, palliative and dialysis patients are our most vulnerable fellow citizens. In this time of distress, we need to stand up for these vulnerable brothers and sisters. Alpha palliative care has more than 8445 patients under care on 30 April 2021. Due to the unprecedented crisis, we do not have enough oxygen cylinders to support the patients. Since Oxygen cylinders are in short supply in India, we have decided to air lift the oxygen cylinders from overseas on a war footing. Alpha Palliative Care has partnered with Nammude Arogyam Community Hospital (NACH), Mathilakam, Thrissur, which has now transformed itself into a Covid 19 Hospital, to care for our patients. These oxygen cylinders will be handed over to NACH to provide care for our palliative and dialysis patients suffering from the Covid 19 infection.
According to the current Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of 26%, about 2200 patients could be infected out of which about 110 patients may need oxygen support at any time. Since the conventional palliative homecare team is not equipped to handle Covid positive patients, a special team of youngsters under Students Association of Palliative Care (SAPC) is teaming up with the medical team and facility of NACH to deal with the humanitarian crisis faced by those suffering from chronic diseases, survivors of stroke, accidents, age-related debilities etc.
We kindly request all our beloved fellow human beings to support these efforts to improve the quality of life of Covid 19 patients in distress by donating generously towards Oxygen cylinders.
